When Lelouch learned that Nunnally was kidnapped by V.V, they took the Gawain Knightmare Frame to Kaminejima to search for his kidnapped sister, but fell into a trap that reveals part of C.C.'s memories to Lelouch. These memories seem to focus on traumatic experiences, such as having been killed repeatedly throughout history. Her earliest memories include being tortured and killed in witch hunts during the dark ages, likely due to her inhuman abilities and apparent immortality. She tells Lelouch that she's been alive so long she can no longer remember who loves her and who hates her; She has been alone for as long as she can remember. Lelouch replies,
