In the series, the Super Saiyan is a transformation that occurs when a character of Saiyan heritage has reached their natural physical limit and becomes emotionally distressed; in most instances, from despair or rage. The first character to appear as a Super Saiyan in the series was Goku after becoming overwhelmed with rage when he witnessed Freeza murder his best friend Kuririn. |
